Which VMware Purchasing Program is Right for You?

If you missed our VMware purchasing programs webinar, no worries! We took some notes and can fill you in on everything you missed. There are 7 VMware purchasing programs. How can you know which of those will best fit your needs?

Enterprise Purchasing Program (EPP)

The first program we will be looking at is the Enterprise Purchasing Program (EPP). This deal is designed for customers spending more than $250k. It utilizes tokens that need to be purchased and redeemed online for a variety of VMware products during a 3-year period. From your My VMware account, you can view and manage the purchased tokens. They can be redeemed for licenses and the corresponding Support and Subscription (SnS). Once the tokens are used, the license keys are deposited into your My VMware account and are ready for use.

Discount Levels:

Customer Purchasing Program (CPP)

This program is designed to make receiving discounts for purchases over $25K with a VMware Channel Partner simple and quick. There is no enrollment or tracking of prior purchases when determining your discount. The larger your transaction, the more you save.

Benefits:

• No enrollment
• Discount is determined by each transaction

Features:

• The more you purchase, the greater the discount
• Simple standardized purchasing program
• Easy discount calculations

Discount Levels:

 Volume Purchasing Program (VPP)

With this program, the customer receives financial incentives for purchasing in volume through the VPP. It does require an initial purchase of at least $25k, but your organization can extend the VPP membership benefits to authorized affiliates. Member and affiliate purchases contribute toward the overall discount level. This helps to maximize savings.

• Financial benefits when purchasing in volume
• Standardized purchasing program

Features:

• Discount levels based on purchase volume
• Online portal for tracking eligible discount
• Discount sharing between the customer and their affiliates

Discount Levels:

Transactional Purchasing Program (TPP)

The TPP provides tier-based discount pricing to the U.S. Federal Government customers. It offers a consistent and flexible way for government customers to purchase VMware products. This program only applies to purchases made through an authorized Government Dealer.

Benefits:

• Volume discounts
• Standardized purchasing program

Features:

• Discount structure based on TPP points
• Discount levels based on volume purchased
• No enrollment required, all U.S. federal customers are eligible

Cloud Credits Purchasing Program (CCPP)

The CCPP allows customers to buy public or hybrid services from approved vCloud Service Providers. This can be done in one transaction and redeemed over time. It allows for a flexible budget and control while maximizing on the benefits offered by cloud services.

• Reducing rogue IT spend
• Improved reporting, security, and compliance
• Curtailing cloud sprawl

Features:

• Redeem credits over time with an approved service provider
• Public and hybrid purchases in a single transaction or as part on an ELA
• Managed through My VMware portal 
• Add tokens at any time

Subscription Purchasing Program (SPP)

Through the SPP, the customer can purchase VMware Subscription and Support in the form of Subscription Credits (SPP Credits). You can redeem your SPP Credits for any VMware Subscription and Support Services or Add-ons listed in the SPP Eligibility Matrix. The funds can also be used for Subscription Service renewals.

Discount Levels:

Hybrid Purchasing Program (HPP)

Through the HPP the customer can acquire both VMware Perpetual Licenses and VMware Subscription Services in the form of a single Hybrid Credit (HPP Credits). HPP Credits can be redeemed for VMware Licenses listed on the EPP eligibility Matrix and VMware Subscription Services listed in the SPP Eligibility Matrix.
